Annual 4th of July Pocket Parade

We are excited to once again present this wonderful neighborhood tradition. The parade begins promptly at 10:00am and follows the usual route from the corner of Windbridge and South Land Park Drive, south on Windbridge and right on Pocket Road, ending at the entrance of Garcia Bend Park.   Last year’s Parade featured nearly 1,100 participants and almost 100 vehicles, which caused some serious strain on our staging capacity, as well as concerns regarding safety during the staging process. Based on feedback from participants, Sac PD and our volunteer parade marshals, we are making a few changes this year. In order to allow more participants and in the interest of safety, we are reducing the number of vehicles involved in the parade. Please see all of the details below. Each parade entry will be restricted to one vehicle and one trailer. All other members of the same entry will be required to walk or ride a bike or a human powered scooter. Wagons and strollers are allowed. Car Clubs will be restricted to 12 vehicles per entry. There will be no performances at the reviewing stand. This is easier on the classic cars who do not like to idle, as well as the children marching who also might struggle to stand and “idle”. This change also allows a smooth progression of the parade throughout the entire route to Garcia Bend, and enhances the enjoyment of spectators who line the 1.2-mile route. Please march continuously throughout the parade route and do not pause to give even brief performances. Failure to follow this rule may adversely impact future parade participation. Please do not have any amplified speaking or music. Due to ongoing construction and very limited parking at Garcia Bend Park, NO cars will be allowed to turn into the parking lot after the parade. Cars are to continue on Pocket Road. ONLY walkers, those on scooters and bicyclists may enter the parking lot. Please note that all parade registration is now closed.

Due to the size of the parade, there will be no walk up/day of entries accepted. With an event of this size, it is necessary to close roads along the parade route, and staging area.   We are looking forward to seeing you on July 4th and celebrating with our friends and neighbors!   We are expecting warmer weather the day of the parade, please hydrate and make sure to bring water! 💦🌞 Rectangle: Rounded Corners: More information
