Come out and celebrate with your neighbors and the businesses and organizations that make our neighborhood so great!
This year’s Pocket Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. this year, and follows the usual route from the down Windbridge Drive, starting at the South Land Park Drive intersection, heading south along Windbridge, turning right on Pocket Road and ending at the entrance to Garcia Bend Park.
Windbridge Drive from South Land Park Drive to Pocket Road is closed to ALL traffic
from 9:30 am until the parade has been completed (approximately 12:00 pm) on July 4th, so plan accordingly.
Visit july4thpocketparade.com for more information.
Here’s an interesting event going on just outside of our neighborhood boundaries:
Bring your 0-5 year olds and join children’s musician Jillian Van Ness of Grow Resilient Families for a fun morning of live music-making on the trail! Jillian will reveal some of her new, original songs inspired by the Del Rio Trail in this 30-minute, interactive class.
Bring your shakers/instruments (even a tupperware container filled w/ dried beans, car keys, or two sticks picked up along the trail will work beautifully!)
picnic blanket
snack/lunch, water bottles to enjoy after music
wear sturdy, close-toed shoes as the site is under construction
hats, sunscreen, etc
Admission is FREE but space is limited! Pre-registration and a commitment to attend is required via Eventbrite.
On May 22nd from 8:00am – 2:00pm, SMUD and others are hosting a e-waste recycling event at Cal Expo. Recycling proceeds benefit the Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps.

The PGCA is hosting a community meeting Wednesday February 15th, 6pm, at the Robbie Waters Library Community Room.
US Congresswoman Doris Matsui’s District Director will be in attendance as well as the Sacramento Police Department. We have invited Councilmember Jennings as well as the Sacramento Postmaster, Angela Bye.
This meeting will allow Pocket Greenhaven Residents to voice their mail theft concerns with the appropriate government officials and ask for solutions.
The PGCA January general meeting was a success. Here is a link to the minutes. If you have any questions email us at info@pocketgreenhaven.org

There is another round of cluster mailbox break-ins occurring in the Pocket Greenhaven Neighborhood. As you may recall the PGCA was instrumental in leading the fight last year against these break-ins. We held a community meeting in July and with the help of federal officials had locks and older cluster mailboxes replaced. Unfortunately, last month mail carriers were held up at gunpoint and their master keys were stolen. Since then we have seen an increase in break-ins, with at least 5 occurring in the last few days in our neighborhood. Your PGCA, as in the past, is working with Congresswoman Matsui’s office and the USPS to end this new round of break ins. Please email info@pocketgreenhaven.org if you know of a cluster mailbox break-in. Please include: the time and date, address, was forced used to open the mailbox, any security footage or photos, and any other witness information.
Your PGCA will have a short presentation at our January 19th community meeting about our efforts to stop these break ins. In the meantime, we recommend that you collect your mail from cluster mailboxes daily.
