Annual 4th of July Pocket Parade

Come out and celebrate with your neighbors and the businesses and organizations that make our neighborhood so great!

This year’s Pocket Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. this year, and follows the usual route from the down Windbridge Drive, starting at the South Land Park Drive intersection, heading south along Windbridge, turning right on Pocket Road and ending at the entrance to Garcia Bend Park.

Windbridge Drive from South Land Park Drive to Pocket Road is closed to ALL traffic
from 9:30 am until the parade has been completed (approximately 12:00 pm) on July 4th, so plan accordingly.

Car Wash & BBQ Fundraiser to support Alzheimer’s Association

Who doesn’t need a car wash?

Please come by Revere Court on June 21st-to support the Alzheimer’s Association for the Longest Day Car Wash!

The Longest Day is the day with the most light-the summer solstice. And it’s the day the Alzheimer’s Association calls on everyone to fight Alzheimer’s disease by raising funds and awareness for care, support and research.

We hope to see you! And we would love to wash your car!

Car Wash is $20 min donation and we will have hot dogs, chips and a drink for $5

Greenhaven Soccer Club Summer Soccer Camps!

GHSC is delighted to offer three fun Summer Camp opportunities for all kids! You do not need to be a member of a soccer club to participate and all skill levels are welcome! Overseen by their professionally licensed and highly experienced Director of Coaching Jason Drury and Technical Director Amm Fantahun, your player will learn skills from top level coaches in a fun, engaging, positive atmosphere.

Nothing screams summer like a beautiful night at the park with friends and family! Trucks & Such will be on Friday, June 16th and entertainment will be provided by Jose Hernandez and friends. We can’t wait to see you out there!

Greenhaven/Pocket 4th of July Parade 

 

It’s that time of year! This year’s Pocket/Greenhaven July 4th Parade will be on Tuesday July 4th. The parade begins promptly at 10:00am and follows the usual route from the corner of Windbridge and South Land Park Drive, south on Windbridge and right on Pocket Road, ending at the entrance of Garcia Bend Park.

Registration for the 2023 4th of July Parade is now OPEN! Entry is free and all of the details can be found here: http://july4thpocketparade.com/The deadline to enter is June 22, 2023. Due to the size of the parade, there will be no walk up/day of entries accepted.

With an event of this size, it is necessary to close roads along the parade route, and staging area to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the parade safely.

Music for Kids on the Del Rio Trail with Jillian Van Ness

Here’s an interesting event going on just outside of our neighborhood boundaries:

Bring your 0-5 year olds and join children’s musician Jillian Van Ness of Grow Resilient Families for a fun morning of live music-making on the trail! Jillian will reveal some of her new, original songs inspired by the Del Rio Trail in this 30-minute, interactive class.

Bring your shakers/instruments (even a tupperware container filled w/ dried beans, car keys, or two sticks picked up along the trail will work beautifully!)

snack/lunch, water bottles to enjoy after music
wear sturdy, close-toed shoes as the site is under construction
hats, sunscreen, etc
Admission is FREE but space is limited! Pre-registration and a commitment to attend is required via Eventbrite.

Traffic Safety Town Hall

Do you have concerns regarding sideshows, street racing, and reckless driving? Join Vice Mayor Eric Guerra, Mayor Pro Tem Mai Vang, and Councilmember Rick Jennings for a town hall discussing traffic safety issues in the city.
